Music

  • Singer-songwriter
  • Member of Sopa Sol
  • Special projects:
    • Wozo: Songs for Resilience – a musical journey through overwhelming shock, grief and recovery, weaving songs and stories to examine trauma, healing and legacies of colonialism in our social fabric. Both Frances and Daryl are graduates of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University. Offering a live program and a recording released on CD or download.
    • Free Range Hymns – an album released in 2017, with Frances Miller and Nathan Bontrager, of re-imagined hymns drawn from our upbringing in the Mennonite/Anabaptist tradition. All three musicians are steeped in classical, folk/traditional and improvised music, which led to a CD that ranges from the plaintive to the experimental. While the music is derived from the hymn tradition, those with an interest in chamber music through Appalachian folk music will find something fitting their tastes.

Circle Facilitation for Difficult Conversations
We often find ourselves in situations where communication is hard, despite our best intentions and efforts. Circle processes can allow people to get to the heart of a conflict and find ways to move forward together, often with surprisingly effective results. Best suited for small to medium-size groups with ongoing relationships. Each situation is unique and merits a customized approach. Daryl holds a Masters degree in conflict transformation from the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University.

Deep Listening
Do you or someone you know have a difficult story that needs to be told? Daryl offers trauma-sensitive listening focused on a person's healing and growth through narrative storytelling and accompaniment. Arts-based exploration are encouraged. If desired, Daryl can write a song to reflect and respond to what he has heard. Sessions can be customized.
